3 Point Lighting

 In 3 point lighting, there are 3 different lights used on set for different purposes:

Fill Light - The primary lighting source for the scene, it is not aimed at anything in particular and is quite bright to illuminate the space.

Key Light - The key light is aimed directly at the subject of the shot to illuminate them specifically. It is more intense than the other lights.

Back Light - Positioned behind the subject to give them a "halo" effect to help define the subject from the background of the shot. It works particularly well on hair and skin.
